The Black American Heritage Flag represents the history, culture, and accomplishments of Black Americans in the United States. It was designed in 1967 by Melvin Charles and Gleason T. Jackson during the civil rights movement, and was first displayed at Newark City Hall in New Jersey on March 5, 1967. The flag's colors and symbols were carefully chosen to instill pride in Black Americans and to offer hope for the future
